I think he's very much playing up that innocent and shy persona, for example looking scandalized at conventions when Ian or JR make a sexual joke or even slightly use such language. And in reality we've seen Hoechlin use the same language in private without blushing or being shy at all. Reading his interviews he also seems to play up this wholesome persona. It's definitely a PR move from him. It's not only fans projecting onto him. The projecting of fans has a reason, and the reason is that Hoechlin has been shaping such an image for his public persona.

And Hoechlin generally doesn't seem like a shy guy. He said about himself that he loves to get to know new people and that it's very easy for him. I think Hoechlin is rather conservative in many of his views, be it political or religious. He's also a guy who's very aware of his image and he never wants to take sides so that he never has any controversies around him. He is very aware of how people conceive him and he's feeding that image of the harmless and wholesome guy because it gives him the biggest fanbase.

Is Alex becoming more of a legit celebrity? I hope so, I like him. Did you (or anyone) see his performance on an episode of Code Black? Played a kid in the hospital who has lung cancer, who has a relationship with a candy-striper. He was amazing. I didn't know he could act. Wow.

Lately I saw a preview of Light As A Feather he was featured in and he seemed just as real and sincere. He's a natural - hope he pursues it.

I think he's beautiful at times, and cute, as well - but I see what you mean, and yeah I think Matthieu is sexier at this point. Matthieu writes some really nice stuff on Instagram. I agree he's kind of deep. And articulate.
